The aim of the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings is to encourage the transfer of knowledge between generations of scientists, reinforce international networks, and inspire both young researchers and Nobel laureates. Some twenty to thirty Nobel laureates and more than 500 top young researchers from more than fifty countries attend this six-day event every year at Lake Constance in Lindau, Germany.
The meetings are dedicated alternately to chemistry, physics, and medicine/physiology. Every five years, the meeting is interdisciplinary in nature. Meetings in the economic sciences have taken place every five years since 2004. The Council for the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings began organising this event in 1951. The Academy has participated since 2008.
The programme includes lectures by Nobel laureates, plenary discussions, and workshops. The social programme is another important aspect of the Meetings.
The Meetings help build international networks and inspire younger generations of researchers to excel in their fields.
