De la Court Prize

Description

The Academy awards the De la Court Prize every three years in recognition of research conducted without financial reward, for example a large body of work, life achievement or outstanding accomplishment. The prize is awarded to researchers in the humanities and social sciences.

The De la Court Prize consists of a silver medal and a monetary award of EUR 6800. Researchers who have an appointment at a university or research institute and conduct research outside their discipline are not eligible. It is also possible to nominate someone for the prize.

Pieter and Johan de la Court were influential tradesmen in 17th-century Leiden. The Johan de la Court Prize (J) and the Pieter de la Court Prize (P) were established in 1985. In 1999 they were merged into the De la Court Prize.
