Conway Medal (Mathematical Physics)

Description

This medal commemorates Arthur W. Conway (1875-1950), Professor of Mathematical Physics in the University, Registrar (1908-1940) and President (1940-1947). Professor Conway was a Fellow of the Royal Society and a member of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences and President of the Royal Irish Academy (1937-1940). He made fundamental contributions to electromagnetism, relativity, atomic physics, quantum mechanics, partial differential equations and in the applications of quaternions.
