Professor at the Institut für Geophysik, Earth and Planetary Magnetism Group, Zürich, Switzerland.

Andrew Jackson has made extraordinary contributions to the knowledge of the historical secular variation of the geomagnetic field. His papers, published both in Nature and Science, have been exceptionally influential.

2007 Petrus Peregrinus Medallist (European Geosciences Union) for his outstanding contributions to the study and knowledge of the historical secular variation of the geomagnetic field.
