Research professor with the Water Resources Center of the Desert Research Institute,
Chief Scientist for the National Science Foundation's WAISCORE program, which is recovering the first of two deep Antartic ice cores.
His research topics deal with some aspect of hydrology and involve fieldwork.
Taylor is currently working on a set of projects that use ice cores from Antarctica to improve our understanding of why climate changes occur and how can climate change in the future. He is the Chief Scientist for the WAISCORES project which is studying paleoclimate and ice dynamics in West Antarctica. He also makes electrical measurements on ice cores to identify annual layers. By counting the annual layers we help determine when and why climate changed in the past. Knowing why climate changed in the past improves our ability to predict how climate will change in the future.
