Dr Miller has been investigating environment and land use at Tell es-Sweyhat, northern Syria (supported by a University of Pennsylvania Research Foundation grant); Hacinebi, southeastern Turkey; and Anau, Turkmenistan. In addition, Dr. Miller is using her knowledge of ancient and modern vegetation to conserve the Midas Mound at Gordion, Turkey. She is developing ways to reduce erosion by encouraging the growth of native plants. These techniques could be more broadly applied for pasture improvement and land reclamation.
