Anthropology and the Director of the Center for Archaeological Research at the University of Delaware, U.S.A.

His research interests have focused on the archaeological and anthropological study of the past and present indigenous people of the Middle Atlantic region with a focus on southeastern Pennsylvania and the Delmarva Peninsula.

He is actively involved in the development of cultural resources management plans for prehistoric and historic archaeological resources in Delaware, and the upper Delmarva region of Maryland.
Other involvements include:
- testing and excavation of prehistoric and historic archaeological sites in Northern Delaware and New Jersey;
- private consulting involving Phase I and Phase II archaeological studies in Pennsylvania and Maryland;
- and he is a consultant to the United States Department of Agriculture and Soil Conservation Service.
