Position

Arthur LeGrand Doty Professor of Electrical Engineering at Princeton University

Research interests

His field of research activity is the electrical properties of thin films and microstructures of semiconductors and solid-state physics. His current research at Princeton is on the fundamental properties of electronic materials, especially conduction in ultrasmall structures, transport through heterojunctions, heterojunction transistors, and quantum physics of electronic materials in strong magnetic fields and low temperatures, in particular, the quantum Hall regime.

Prizes and awards

Fellow of the American Physical Society and of the American Association for the Advancement of Science,

Recipient of its Buckley Prize for condensed matter physics.

1998 Nobel prize in Physics for his discovery of the fractional quantum Hall effect,

Benjamin Franklin Award in Physics.
